Before the Parade

We always need a little time to get reacquainted. Here we are waiting for the parade to begin. Left to right: Paula, Norman, Pam Nesbitt, Keith Clark, the back of Margaret's head, and the back of Tom Appleton on the left in the background

I won a poster contest once in First Grade. This was not that winning poster, but the truck was so nice-looking the artwork was a minor detail. Another class had a photo montage of deceased classmates gracing the sides of their float. None of us were that ambitious. Remember the fun nights we spent stuffing crepe paper in chicken wire? Nobody does that anymore.

More chatting and waiting. That's me in the background having discovered the beauty of magnetic tape to secure the signs on the truck without causing damage to the paint job. L to R: Paula, Margaret, Susie Harlan.

THANKS TO PAM NESBITT JOHNSON FOR THESE FINE PHOTOS JUST AHEAD!!!

A gentle reminder to myself. Skip the candid shots. Just get folks to pose. Then I will have photos of their faces rather than back and sides. Notice the chairs in the bed of the truck...we did NOT use them!

Norman Brown and Keith Clark had way more fun than they appear to be having here. We were glad to see Norm, though he could not be around for the Saturday night fling. Keith very graciously provided the fine Chevy Silverado and drove it, too. So he was the only one who didn't walk...but he could have and would have.

All the planning meetings are over. Now just the fun. Susie Butcher Harlan, Ann Sawin, Connie Shike Hilligoss, and Susie Bonynge Watson are waiting for the parade to begin. Notice the nice warm scarves. Pam Nesbitt Johnson knitted all summer long. Sadly, Aledo is experiencing either global warming or Indian Summer and we did not need to wear our new green and white scarves.

Don Basala and Tom Appleton joined the festivities though Tom had a previous committment and did not attend the Saturday gala.

Tom Harlan and Margaret Conway pose for the camera. Paula is on the right taking her own photos.

Pat O'Hearn took the day off work and Don Basala came over from Indiana.
